How do I know if what I feel is due to electrical sensitivity?
At its simplest the answer is: if your symptoms subside when you move away from proximity to EMF sources,ie. any electrical equipment or transmitters such as mobile phones and masts.
The examination of individual symptoms does not always result in them being easy to pin down to a specific cause. There are no obvious absolutely distinct physical anomalies to point to. The subjective mental and physiological states and feelings may be the result of alternative causes eg some other debilitating illness, perhaps chemical triggers as in multiple Chemical Sensitivity or MCS (from powerful agents in fuel emissions, cleaning fluids, floor polishes etc.), or allergies to dust or pollen like hay fever or sick building syndrome. It is necessary to study the indicators in ‘What is ES?’ elsewhere on this website and consult a doctor with some experience of the field if you can find one.
What is there I can look out for?
What is easy is if you have discovered an undeniable association yourself. If e-equipment malfunctions when you are in the vicinity, if you are sensible to the feeling of being irradiated or bathed in an EMF field by feeling warmed, perhaps flushing or coming out in a rash or a headache. Noticing that this is connected with spending hours in front of a VDU computer monitor screen. Also, feeling sharp piercing pains when equipment such as that is switched on or a mobile phone is used and so on. A test which is suggested by sufferers is to be placed under fluorescent lighting to see if a sizzling (tinnitus) sensation is evoked in the aural tract.
What sensible precautions can I take if I suspect I am becoming electrically hypersensitive?
Firstly, for the reasons of possible confusion given above, try to find out. This may not be easy and if you meet bemusement or resistance to such a diagnosis, yet you strongly suspect it, then resist, do not be fobbed off. Examine the symptoms indicated elsewhere on this website, print pages out and take them to your GP or whoever. Terrible misdiagnoses have been made, even psychiatric sections (being forcibly incarcerated) have resulted, so resolute persistence in a reasoned manner, producing evidence if possible is a prudent approach. Our intention eventually is to produce a list of where to find expert medical assistance.
